How God is described in the Bible

Finished reading Daniel this afternoon. Really enjoyed this book of the Bible… lots of Good Stuff that I could go on and on about.. but what I wanted to share in this post… I am always captivated by descriptions of God and Heaven and Heavenly beings.

As closely as I read what is there and try to take it in… I also know in my gut that it has to be even much more amazing than what is in print and what we can even attempt to wrap our minds around. I love reading about it….

God sits on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire with a river of fire pouring out… with millions of angels ministering to Him.

Belts of pure gold. A body that looks like gems. A face that flashed like lightning. Eyes that flamed like torches. Arms and feet that were as brightly shining as polished bronzed. A voice that roared like a multitude of people.

Daniel heard His voice and fell to his face.

Can we even try to wrap our minds around that image? How awesome it would have been to stand in Daniel’s shoes for those moments. To experience the all mighty, all powerful, creator of Heaven and earth. It makes me smile to think about it. It makes me excited to think that when I get to Heaven, after I have praised our Lord for years and years, after I see my loved ones that I miss so dearly, even though I will be in Heaven with our Creator, I for sure want to spend some time with the likes of Daniel. I want to hear the stories of the grandeur of The Almighty. I want to hear the excitement in Daniel’s voice when he tells the story, I want to be on the edge of anticipation to find out what happened next.

How awesome and amazing our God is. His splendor is so vast I don‘t think we will even come close to really understanding His outward appearance until we see if for ourselves.

But, I am so thankful for texts in His Word that helps us attempt to put some definition around what God looks like and how He is described in the Bible.

Continue to learn about Him. Continue to read about Him.

Lord, give me a continued desire to know you more.

Much Love ♥️

Daniel 7:9-10 (NLT)

9 I watched as thrones were put in place

and the Ancient One[a] sat down to judge.

His clothing was as white as snow,

his hair like purest wool.

He sat on a fiery throne

with wheels of blazing fire,

10 and a river of fire was pouring out,

flowing from his presence.

Millions of angels ministered to him;

many millions stood to attend him.

Then the court began its session,

and the books were opened.

Daniel 10:4-9 (NLT)

4 On April 23,[a] as I was standing on the bank of the great Tigris River, 5 I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothing, with a belt of pure gold around his waist. 6 His body looked like a precious gem. His face flashed like lightning, and his eyes flamed like torches. His arms and feet shone like polished bronze, and his voice roared like a vast multitude of people.

7 Only I, Daniel, saw this vision. The men with me saw nothing, but they were suddenly terrified and ran away to hide. 8 So I was left there all alone to see this amazing vision. My strength left me, my face grew deathly pale, and I felt very weak. 9 Then I heard the man speak, and when I heard the sound of his voice, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground.
