There are many ways to describe being seen or feeling seen.
Being heard, being understood and accepted by another person for who you are, being noticed, or being valued are some that all of you know as being seen.
One description of ‘being seen’ that resonates with me specifically is ‘having space held for you’.
What does ‘having space held for you’ mean, you ask? Well, I like to think of it as opportunity to fully be yourself, without judgment, in a completely emotionally safe environment where you are being heard, being treated with respect, where there is a conscious and intentional choice to put aside any agendas and to just have relationship, fellowship, or discuss the hard topics that need addressed and have open and authentic dialogue with one another.
Now, I would venture to say that feeling seen is important to most of us. Whether our pride will allow us to admit it or not. Everyone wants to feel like they matter. Everyone wants to feel accepted. Everyone wants to feel like what they have to contribute matters and has value.
It’s almost like it is one of those innate human desires of belonging that we long for. That we can search for in so many different ways and in so many different people or things.
The need to be seen, the need to be valued, the need to belong can either be positive and fulfilling or it can lead to a path of poor choices.
When we are searching to be seen, to belong, this can sometimes come from a place of lack of community and loneliness.
While it is extremely important for us to have positive, encouraging, and loving people or community around us to fill some of those spaces there is a much deeper space that I believe is the foundation of all of the other relationships.
The foundation has to start with understanding that we ARE seen by THE Creator, The Lord God, our Heavenly Father.
This understanding is essential for us to know our value and our worth in Him so that we can then participate in our other relationships in a healthy way.
God DOES See YOU!! … Do NOT Miss the God Winks ALL around YOU 😉
God winks are all around us all of the time!! You just have to be present and observant to not miss them!!
Kind of like when you start thinking about a new car you may want. Then all of a sudden, you are seeing that black Super Sport Camaro with red pinstripes around every corner!
It is the same kind of thing when you start looking for God. Just like that cool car was always there, we just were not paying attention. We were not being open to seeing it. We were not being present in our surroundings to see that cool car until we were open to the idea.
Be open to looking for God in any and everything whether it is a small detail or the bigger circumstances. God is all around you. All the time. He sees you. He wants you to see that He sees you. He loves you. He wants you to see that He loves you!
I was getting ready for the day one morning, just going through my normal routine of brushing my teeth, shower, makeup, and hair. This particular morning I did have a lot on my mind so I was listening to some worship music and praying as I was getting ready for my day.
I don’t know if ya’ll are like me, but I need encouragement and uplifting everyday not just on days that I have a lot weighing on me but this day, it was a little more than others so there was a fair amount of asking God to just be with me during the day. Asking Him to show up for me that day because, I needed Him. I needed to know my Father had me that day.
As I pulled out my makeup bag from the drawer, I was taking a few things out as I am singing away in my bathroom. I look down at my eye makeup and there is a smiley face created out of one of the color palettes.
Right there, just smiling at me in my eye makeup I saw God. No, not the literal being of God but rather a little gesture of a smiling face back at me.
After the prayers that I had, after the request that I made to Him letting The Lord know that I needed Him to show up for me today. He used a simplistic little gesture to let me know that I was seen by Him.
He heard my prayer, He accepted me just as I was, for who I was. The God of the Universe held space for me and He was giving me a little reminder of just that fact!
Do not miss out on feeling the love of Christ and the Father!!
Do not miss out on feeling the value that we have by being seen by the Creator of the Universe!! By the one that simultaneously keeps the world spinning and knows each of our names individually.
Do not miss out on feeling any of it.
To not miss out on it means we have to let our guards down with The Lord! He is our safe space. You can be vulnerable with Him.
You can trust Him to hold your heart tenderly.
Talk to Him. Tell Him that you need Him. Ask Him to show Himself to you. These are the beginning steps of having real relationship with Jesus.
These are the baby steps we all need to take to begin to get to know who The Lord is personally to us.
These are the baby steps you need to take to begin to feel His love, to begin to feel His presence.
Then with feeling comes knowing.
And oh my goodness, I promise you … You do NOT want to miss out on knowing Jesus and the Lord God our Father!!
Knowing the love The Lord has for you.
Knowing the value you have in Him.
Knowing your worth in Christ.
GOD is Holding Space for YOU!!
You DO NOT want to MISS OUT on recognizing that YOU ARE SEEN by GOD!!
It WILL COMPLETELY transform YOUR LIFE!!
